PLC Technician
Job Summary
The Electronic Tech designs/re-designs, specifies, writes programs, and loads programs. This position is also responsible for the documentation and construction of electro-mechanical systems to support process improvements and new product introductions ensuring compliance with safety, quality and productivity requirements. The ET is the primary resource to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair electro-mechanical systems used throughout the operation
Essential Functions
- Design Electro-mechanical interfaces in cooperation with the Maintenance Manager and Design Engineer in compliance with Safety, Quality and Productivity requirements
- Specify Controls, Interfaces and electro-mechanical devices with an emphasis on standardization and selecting products with a balance of reliability and cost
- Document system designs in AutoCAD or similar engineering software package
- Design systems compliant with all federal and state regulatory requirements
- Develop logic for PLCs and Software controls documenting the program steps and loading them to the PLC / PC
- Participate in benchmarking best practice activities
- Identify, recommend and implement changes to improve safety, quality and / or productivity.
- Develop and update Machine Operating procedures and instructions (as they relate to the Electronics / Electro-mechanical interface) in compliance with the ISO 9001 quality system
- Troubleshoot & Diagnose system failures taking the necessary action to repair the machine with a focus on implementing improvements that will prevent a recurrence of the failure
Qualifications
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent PC Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher)
- Strong work ethic, ability to work independently, as a team member and a project leader
- Highly motivated, self-starter, detail-oriented
- Good problem solving abilities
- Strong knowledge or interest in the automotive sector
- Knowledge of computers, technology and electronics.
- Ability to use an Oscilloscope, signal analyzer, and knowledge of radio frequency a plus
Experience
- Three years’ experience as an Engineering Tech in a manufacturing environment
Education
- Associate’s Degree in in Industrial Maintenance or related field preferred
