Shipping Supervisor
Job Summary
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of logistics operations to ensure efficient and cost-effective movement of goods. This role involves supervising shipping staff, managing transportation, inventory control, and warehouse activities while maintaining compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Essential Functions
- Supervise daily logistics operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory management, and distribution
- Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods
- Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to optimize shipping efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Train, mentor, and evaluate shipping staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to company procedures
- Resolve shipping discrepancies, delays, and other issues in a timely manner
- Research and implement industry best practices
- Identify process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce shipping errors
- Prepare reports and documentation related to logistics operations and key performance indicators
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of transportation, inventory management, and distribution processes
- Advanced understanding of inventory management systems and shipping software
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, MS Access and Internet Browsers
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- Able to obtain forklift certified
Experience
- Three (3) or more years’ experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse supervision
Education
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field
