Job Summary

The Tool Crib Coordinator keeps manufacturing and assembly departments stocked with tools/supplies. Works with external vendors to reduce cost of tools/supplies. Uses supply chain management software (IMAINT) to keep track of inventory and perform scheduled audits on the tool crib. Works with tooling and manufacturing engineers to create and maintain work instructions on the tool/supply procurement process and the physical and software organization of tools/supplies. Helps maintenance with PM creation and scheduling and maintains tool crib organization and cleanliness to help facilitate the timely provision of required employee supplies.

Essential Functions

  • Issues set-up containers (kits) as required by work orders to the appropriate personnel. (2) receives set-up containers from appropriate personnel, verifies contents, (3) maintains – sharpens or replaces tooling as needed and restocks kit     (4) Documents and reports damaged tools and holders returned in set-up boxes, to his or her supervisor
  • Utilizes the computer and print room as required for tool prints
  • Issues tooling, holders and attachments to personnel as required and dictated by set-up or layout documentation.
  • Issues and maintains supplemental items required for production such as rags, oils, and fasteners.
  • Issues and maintains items required for maintenance such as, spare parts, equipment, stock material, etc.
  • Assists tooling engineer in the procurement, maintenance and repair of tools, holders and attachments by reporting tool issues, excess usage by operators and shortages (for the purpose of reordering)
  • Coordinates with tool room personnel as need to refurbish and repair holders and attachments when possible
  • Collaborates with tool engineering and manufacturing engineering to enhance tool effectiveness and life
  • Communicates effectively and responds promptly with internal and external customers
  • Participates in root cause analysis and troubleshooting efforts; provides technical input and support as required
  • Troubleshoots and advises operators regarding tool/ setup issues when applicable
  • Collaborates with other departments as needed to provide documentation as needed for set-ups and tooling.
  • Responsible for providing appropriate labeled areas within cabinets to properly store tooling, attachments and components without damage
  • Responsible for maintaining a “neat” and organized work area (tool crib and set-up room)
  • Stocks new tooling and determines disposition of used tooling.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook
  • Must be able to read and understand setup charts
  • Familiar with hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, vise, hones, etc.)
  • Familiar with various measuring equipment (e.g. Comparator, micrometers, calipers)

Experience

  • 3-5 years managing supply chain inventory or equivalent experience

Education

  • Associate’s Degree or five or more years of related experience
